Animatic Production- Justine

After creating and finishing our storyboard final draft, we moved on to the production of our animatic video. We began by setting up the tripod and camera equipment, positioning it so we were able to achieve a clear image of our storyboard images. Once we had captured all fifty-two shots we transferred the images from the camera on to the computer for editing. We set the shots out on to a timeline on which we were able to go through each individual one 'splitting' and altering the amount of time spent on each shot through the technique of 'time-stretching'. Following this, we then proceeded to incorporate the music track, 'Pick Somebody Up' by Raul Midon in to the timeline. Upon playing the track and video back we were able to ensure both worked together simultaneously. Following this, we designed a 'call sheet' which will enable us to ensure our planning is precise. Finally, we created an account on YouTube where we uploaded our animatics video.
We believe our animatics video went very well, although we do need to shoot some extra 'filling' shots.
Filming our animatics video has made us realise what we want to aim for, for our final result, and the work we have ahead of us in terms of specific camera shots and effects we wish to incorporate in to our music video. We have extended our technical skills and have found the animatic production planning useful in enabling us to learn how to use the technical equipment to our best advantage. In addition to this, we are continuing to expand our technical knowledge, and working as a team means we are able to divide work equally and ultimately save production time.
