Athlete - Wires (Summary)
-Total running time: 4 mins 2 secs
-Total of 102 different shots in the video
-81 out of 102 shots are of the band
-59 out of the 81 shots of the band were CUs, MCUs or BCUs. There was one ECU of guitarrist
-The lead singer of the band was given the most time throughout the video compared to the time given to the other members of the band
From doing this technical analysis of Athlete's 'Wires' and looking at other music videos, it is evident that most of the duration of the video is given to the band, and usually more time is given to the lead singer. I also found that there was a focus on the authenticity of the band's performance. This is achieved through repetitive CUs and MCUs of the different band members playing their instruments. There was also one ECU, focusing on the lead singer's hand playing the guitar.
Visually, there are two main locations used throughout this video, outside (a flat desert-like area) and inside (performance hall). When looking at the different shots used, I found that the outside location primarily used MLS and LS shots which was the opposite to the inside location which used MCUs and CUs of the band and individual members. This focused my attention on the band's performance rather than the narrative sections of the video that were based outside, making it clear to me that the star persona was for the badn to be recognised as having talent more than anything else.
